Solar Modulation on Galactic Cosmic Rays in the Earth’s Atmosphere

چکیده

A brief review of solar modulation on galactic cosmic rays in the earth’s atmosphere is presented. The results of the characterizations of the major two events i.e. Galactic Cosmic Rays (GCRs)(measured in counts) and Galactic Solar rays(GSRs) (measured in counts) against time (measured in hour) shows significant variations. It was also observed that the variations of the events are slightly out of phase. The anti-correlation coefficient, r between GCRs and GSRs, ranging from -0.015 to -0.470, shows that the events originates from different sources. The low level of r in this result indicates that other solar activities such as sunspot, coronal mass ejection and solar wind directly enters the Earth’s atmosphere.

Influence of Cosmic Rays on Earth’s Climate

During the last solar cycle Earth’s cloud cover underwent a modulation more closely in phase with the galactic cosmic ray flux than with other solar activity parameters. Further it is found that Earth’s temperature follows more closely decade variations in galactic cosmic ray flux and solar cycle length, than other solar activity parameters. The main conclusion is that the average state of the ...

The Neutron Flux Variation in the Earth’s Atmosphere Depending on the Solar Proton Flux

The Earth is continually exposed to the cosmic radiation of both solar and galactic origin. Solar eruption and solar activity may affect cosmic radiation flux density which has a secondary effect on the flux of particles in the atmosphere as well. Such one event was recorded in the last week of October 2003, where the measured dose rate of the cosmic radiation in the aircraft ATR 42 was 1.8 tim...

Physical Investigation of Space, Dosimetry of Space Ionizing Ray Effect (Van Allen belts, Galactic Cosmic Rays and Solar particles) and Plotting Dose Map for Satellite Circular Missions

One of the main factors for satellite design is simulating of total ionizing dose due to space ionizing rays in devices used in space. By measurement of induced dose based on available data in different altitudes, expenses of designing, satellite weight and amount of needed fuel will be reduced. Optimum design of satellite for protecting satellite against ionizing radiation has considerable eff...

Be production in the Earth’s polar atmosphere in the recent past

[1] Voyager measurements of the galactic proton and Helium nuclei spectra beyond the heliospheric termination shock and out to ∼110 AU seem to imply lower interstellar cosmic ray intensities of these nuclei than previously estimated. Using new interstellar spectra that are in much better agreement with these Voyager measurements we have calculated the production of Be in the Earth’s polar atmos...

Hard X-ray emission of the Earth’s atmosphere: Monte Carlo simulations

We perform Monte Carlo simulations of cosmic-ray induced hard X-ray emission in the Earth’s atmosphere. We find that the shape of the spectrum emergent from the atmosphere in the energy range ∼25–300 keV is determined by Compton scattering and photoabsorption and is virtually independent of the incident cosmic ray spectrum. We provide a fitting formula for the spectral intensity as a function o...
